vs Tornadoes (230706)

The game started with temasek immediately on the backfoot as Tornadoes surged forward. With one of their strikers playing high upfront and his runs to the sidelines, Temasek were pressed back and this resulted in 3 quick short corners being awarded for Tornadoes. Fortunately it did not work out. Temasek players were starting to get agitated n frustration seemed to set in as the female umpire constantly blew against us. A run down the left by James resulted in Jigar blocking his attempted cross albeit with a whack in his knee. This proved to be significant as in their next attack with Jigar hobbling, an unmarked Tornadoes midfield player was on hand to smash in a loose ball to give them the lead. 1-0 to tornadoes.
The second half started with renewed belief for the Temasek players. Closing down our opponents higher up on the pitch, there was an increase in tempo from the Temasek players. Quick thinking by coach resulted in a short corner being awarded for Temasek which Coach immediately capitalised on after missing a few in the 1st half. Robin was lurking just in front of the keeper to pounce and crack in the equaliser. The match took another spin as Tornadoes scored from another short corner.
Furious protests from the Temasek players resulted as there had been a player who was crossing as the ball was hit. The umpire on the near side was forced to consult the other and he subsequently changed his decision and awarded a 16 yrd hit for Temasek. James n crew were incensed and promised to report this to SHF. But Temasek escaped again. Just like the NYP game! Temasek were given another short corner as the final whistle was blown and all the players rushed to the opponents half. As Coach hit the ball, Zarir tried to slap hit it in but alas, the Temasek players were unable to capitalise n the Tornadoes keeper cleared.
1-1 at the final whistle but this is an improvement from our 2-0 loss earlier in the season.

Special mentions

Coach Nirmal: His presence ensured the scores were down and his short corners have enabled us to come this far.
Uncle Teng: His one handed save from a deflection was enough to erase the earlier confusion on letting the ball go only to kena the tiang. Haha. Hilarious moment.
Azri: The return of our centreback ensured a much more solid backline. Another solid performance
Uncle Edwin: Was unfortunately injured for this game but special thanks to him for delivering the keeper pads. Thanks.
Robin: Another goal which keeps up the pressure at the top of the table

Special Note

Veera might be playing in the next game..although unconfirmed reports say that is only a 50% chance..
