vs Khalsa(030906)

The season is almost coming to an end. This match was predictably gonna be a difficult one as the opposition was definitely a notch higher both in terms of gameplay knowledge and ball skills.
The young players of Khalsa started the game keen on avenging their narrow loss earlier in the season. They immediately pressed forward with a 1-3-3-3 formation utilising the space on the flanks.

Missing Zarir's determination and physical presence, Temasek were continuously on the backfoot and it seemed as though route 1 hockey was the only option left to break into Khalsa's D. Coach nirmal did present Uncle Teck Jin with a few half chances but we were unable to convert. Not suprisingly, Khalsa scored soon after. Half-time. 1-0 to Khalsa.

Another team talk inspired Temasek n we were back on level terms when Coach's free hit from top d was deflected in by Marick. 1-1. We were back in contention. The game continued for another 15 mins with Khalsa unable to capitalise with numerous attempts flying off. Temasek was doing her very best to defend but alas, another break on the right presented the Khalsa forward with a glorious chance n he did not disappoint as the Temasek players shook their head in frustration. This proved to be almighty blow for the Temasek players as they crumbled under pressure to another 2 goals, although we could be said we were hard done by the umpire who clearly allowed a goal from a short corner which was stopped in the d. Final whistle. A convincing 4-1 defeat to Khalsa.

On a side note, Coach Nirmal was also involved in an unnecessary skirmish with the umpire as he let his frustrations out in the open. It was painful lesson for the Temasek players whose hopes now lie in the next and final game against ORA juniors. With SCC hot on their heels, it proves to be another exciting weekend of hockey we can look forward to.
If Khalsa manages to thrash SCC, we will more or less be guaranteed irregardless of our final game as SCC would have to thrash ORA by double digits to even stand a remote chance. Huzer is suspended for the next game due to his picking up of too many greens. On a higher note though, Veera will be back for our final game after the doc cleared him to play. So come on guys, lets' step up a gear and improve from our last game and finish the season with a semi to look forward to.
